Case Discussion
Histologically proven case of abdominal nerve sheath tumors (schwannoma).
A biopsy obtained from the epigastric mass with the histology showed:
- fragments of pseudocapsulated bland-looking proliferated spindle cells with wavy nuclei and elongated eosinophilic cytoplasm
- focal palisading
- sections with cord-like structures proved to be nerve bundle surrounded by fibrofatty tissue entangling small nerve bundles
- no atypia or malignancy
- marker study revealed positive reaction to S-100
