Numerous tubular structures with echogenic walls are seen inside the prominent bowel loops representing ascaris worms.
Case Discussion
Ascariasis is an intestinal infection caused by the roundworm A lumbricoides. It can result in mechanical bowel obstruction caused by a large number of worms. Ultrasonography can depict the adult worm as a hypoechoic tubular structure with well-defined echogenic walls.
