Presentation
Sudden severe right groin pain following jumping training. Ultrasound to rule out a muscular injury.
Patient Data

A bony fragment with a surrounding hematoma is noted at the inner margin of the right femoral neck suggestive of an avulsion fracture.

The frontal radiograph of the pelvis confirms the avulsion fracture with upward displacement of the right lesser trochanter apophysis. No other associated fracture.
Case Discussion
Ultrasound and radiographic feature of an avulsion fracture of the lesser trochanter apophysis.
Usually due to a sudden forceful muscular contraction causing an avulsion fracture of the apophysis, site of the tendon attachment.
