Presentation
Ankle trauma (football Injury)
Patient Data
Note: This case has been tagged as "legacy" as it no longer meets image preparation and/or other case publication guidelines.

The calcaneal lesion is hyperintense on both T1 and T2 weighted images. There is central hypointensity on T1 within the lesion. STIR images reveal patchy peripheral fat suppression.
Case Discussion
Calcaneal lipomas may show the above imaging findings due to presence of central fluid areas with peripheral fibrofatty regions. The central T1 hypointensity may be due to fluid component. Central hemorrhage may also give rise to differential signal intensity characteristics like in this case.
