At the level of the sigmoid colon, there are multiple diverticula with surrounding pericolic fat stranding. No free fluid or intra-abdominal collection is observed. In addition, there is inflammation extending along the path of the inferior mesenteric vein, consistent with a thrombophlebitis secondary to the diverticulitis.
Case Discussion
Findings consistent with uncomplicated acute diverticulitis.
