Presentation
Chronic pain of the medial aspect of the right knee
Patient Data

Small well-defined lobulated partially septated cyst dissecting the fibers of the medial collateral ligament at its distal insertion at the medial surface of the tibia.
Thinning of the articular cartilage of the median patellar ridge with subchondral edema (chondromalacia patellae).
Case Discussion
MRI features most consistent with medial collateral ligament ganglion cyst.
The etiology of ganglion cysts is unclear and is generally thought to result from myxoid cystic degeneration of the connective tissue associated with joint capsules and tendon sheaths.
