Pain and discomfort of the left foot.

Patient Data

Age: 14 years
Gender: Female
x-ray

Foot radiographs demonstrate:

  • absence of the 4th finger of the right foot
  • agenesis of the 3rd metatarsal with hypoplasia of the phalanxes and presence of a rudimentary left 3rd digit

Case Discussion

Oligodactyly is a congenital maldevelopment due to anomalous differentiation of the apical ectodermal ridge, leading to the absence of one or more digits.
