Primary true enterolithiasis causing acute small bowel obstruction

Presentation

Lower abdominal pain for 2 days, has 2 episodes of loose stool and vomiting, diffuse abdominal tenderness on examination.

Patient Data

Age: 70 years
Gender: Female

A well defined triangular shaped structure noted in the lumen of distal ileal loops causing acute obstructive dilatation of small bowel loops. No other complication.

The gall bladder appears normal. No fistula or pneumobilia.

Case Discussion

The patient underwent surgical removal of the enterolith successfully and recovered well.
