Presentation
Work up for right flank pain.
Patient Data

A 75 mm hetero enhancing mass with central nonenhanced scar due to necrosis is present at the upper pole of the right kidney. Mild perinephric fat stranding and vascular engorgement are present in the vicinity of the mass. There is no sign of local invasion, vascular extension, and regional enlarged lymph node.
A few nonenhanced simple cortical cysts are seen in both kidneys.
The prostate gland is enlarged.
Fat containing right inguinal hernia is present.
Case Discussion
A partial nephrectomy is performed for the patient, and histopathology evaluation confirmed renal oncocytoma, which is a relatively benign renal tumor.
It's important to know that the epidemiology, presentation, imaging, and even histopathology of the renal oncocytoma are very similar to renal cell carcinoma, and pre-operatively distinguishing may be impossible.
