Cough and shortness of breath for a week.

Patient Data

Age: 15 years
Gender: Male

Dense right upper lobe consolidation.

Heart size normal. Left lung clear.

Antibiotics administered. Six-week follow-up film.

The right upper lobe consolidation has resolved.

Heart size normal. Left lung clear.

Case Discussion

This a superb example of a dense right upper lobe pneumonia, illustrating the lobar anatomy of the horizontal fissure.

The plum normal chest x-ray 6 weeks later shows the power of antibiotics and a healthy young immune system.
