Presentation

Fell off the trampoline and hit chest on a metal bar.

Patient Data

Age: 11 years
Gender: Male
x-ray

There is a cortical buckle involving the anterior cortex of the third sternebra without involvement of the posterior cortex. There is some surrounding soft tissue thickening.

Case Discussion

This was a GP referral and the child was quite well except for minor bruising and tenderness over the sternum area. No associated rib fractures were identified on chest radiograph. The child was discharged home.
