Patient Data

Tunneled left internal jugular Port-a-Cath demonstrated with the catheter tip at the level of the SVC, 0.5 cm above the level of the carina.
The heart is borderline enlarged. Central mediastinal structures are otherwise unremarkable.
Minimal right perihilar and left lingular subsegmental atelectasis demonstrated without acute cardiopulmonary disease, pneumothorax or pleural fluid.
Impression: uncomplicated tunneled catheter placement.



Tunneled left internal jugular vein chemotherapy Port-a-Cath tip terminates within the azygos vein.
Recommend repositioning.

Know the risks of placing the Port-a-cath in the azygos vein, including azygos vein thrombosis, perforation, etc.
