Diffuse edematous wall thickening involving the rectum, sigmoid colon and descending colon up to the transverse colon. Loss of normal haustral markings in the rectum, sigmoid and descending colon giving the "lead pipe sign". There is associated mild engorgement of the pericolic vasa recta and multiple small mesenteric lymph nodes.
No discrete mass lesion is seen. No significant ascites or abnormal collection is noted.
Case Discussion
The clinical presentation and MRI findings are suggestive of ulcerative colitis.
