Leaky lung syndrome

Leaky lung syndrome (LLS) refers to a form of non-cardiogenic pulmonary oedema.

Pathophysiology 

Pulmonary oedema due to increased capillary permeability.  

Radiographic findings

LLS is considered as mild form of a part of spectrum of acute lung injury with ARDS at the other end of spectrum in terms of severity 1

Features are:

  • patchy peripheral infiltrates
  • air bronchograms
  • normal caliber of vessels
  • varying degree of pneumonitis
