The computed tomography shows a large appendicolith in a distended appendix. Incidentally a bicornuate uterus was noted.
The presence of an appendicolith on CT of abdomen is broadly accepted as 100% specific for the diagnosis of acute appendicitis in patients with abdominal pain and is considered an indication for appendicectomy.
This appendicitis was confirmed after the surgery.
