Carotid body tumor

Diagnosis probable

Presentation

Headache. On examination, there was systolic hypertension. Auscultation revealed increased breath sounds which were hoarse in nature.

There is a large avidly enhancing soft tissue mass in the anterior triangle of the right neck at the carotid bifurcation with characteristic splaying of the ICA and ECA. In addition the pulmonary windows show multiple dilated bronchi (bronchiectasis) in the left lung especially in the lower lobe associated with left hemithorax volume loss. There are also multiple nodular opacities with tree-in-bud pattern in the posterior segment of the right upper lobe.
