Presentation
Right upper quadrant pain and fever in a patient with a right perihepatic abscess.
Patient Data

Mild patient rotation.
No suspicious destructive osseous lesions.
Catheter tubing projects over the right upper quadrant.
Case Discussion
All-purpose drainage catheters with locking pigtails, or APDL catheters, consist of a single tube with drainage holes at the distal end and a hub near the proximal end. The catheters are inserted using percutaneous access to drain fluid collections in various body cavities. CT-guided percutaneous drainage was performed in this patient with a perihepatic abscess using an 8 French APDL catheter.
