Tc-99m DTPA (diethylene-triamine-pentaacetate) is one of the technetium radiopharmaceuticals used in renal imaging.

  • excretion: renal; cleared only via glomeruli with no tubular excretion. Thus making it available for direct measurement of GFR.

    • poor quality images with renal insufficiency

Uses, doses and timings

  • renal study
  • adult dose: 15 mCi IV
  • 60 sec flow study; then every 5 minutes for 25 minutes
