Presentation
Shortness of breath and weight loss.
Patient Data
A large heterogeneous tumor mass with central calcification is seen occupying the left hemithorax. It shows heterogeneous contrast enhancement. It is occupying most of the left hemithorax partially sparing the lung apex with displacement of mediastinum to right side. No bone destruction.
Tru cut biopsy confirming the diagnosis of pleuropulmonary blastoma.
Case Discussion
Primary lung malignancies are exceedingly rare in children, with an incidence of approximately 0.05 per 100,000. The most common tumors are pleuropulmonary blastoma, bronchogenic carcinoma and bronchial adenoma.
In our case, we put pleuropulmonary blastoma at the top of differential diagnosis and was confirmed on histopathology.
