Abdominal pain

Patient Data

Age: 50
Gender: Female

CT abdomen and pelvis

Computed tomography reveals areas of increased density pericolonic fat in relation to multiple diverticula at sigmoid and descending colon segment. Posteromedially a 2 cm mulitloculated collection of gas is larger than other diverticuli and is the center of stranding, and appears to displace the bowel lumen anterolaterally. It likely represents a contained perforation. Alternatively it may represent a particularly large diverticulum. No collections and no free intrabdominal gas.

Case Discussion
