Lung metastases - thyroid primary

Presentation

Weight loss. Lump right side of neck.

Patient Data

Age: 70 years
Gender: Female

Chest

x-ray

Multiple lung nodules and masses of variable size throughout both lungs.

Heart size normal.  Normal mediastinal contours.

Case Discussion

Following this GP plain radiograph request, the patient proceeded to CT of the chest, abdomen and pelvis.

No primary was identified.

Multiple nodules were identified in the thyroid gland, which was classified as U3.

Fine needle aspiration cytology proved thyroid malignancy.
