Biceps tenodesis

Long head of biceps tenodesis is a surgical procedure usually performed to address long head of biceps pain and other pathology relating to the long head of biceps tendon as well as other regional pathology such as SLAP tears.

Several surgical techniques exist and almost all of them involve biceps tenotomy. These include

subpectoral tenodesis
suprapectoral tenodesis
interference screw placement
cortical button placement

Complications

Recognized complications include

complex regional pain syndrome
structure failure issues
- humeral anchor dislodgement / migration
- biceps tendon tear / iatrogenic injury
nerve injuries
- brachial plexus injury
- suprascapular nerve injury
- musculocutaneous nerve injury
- radial nerve injury
- median nerve injury
- axillary nerve injury
heterotopic ossification
infection
seroma / hematoma formation
