The bright rim sign has been described in dysembryoplastic neuroepithelial tumours (DNET) (DNETs) and and is seen, as the name so aptly describes, as a rim of high signal around the DNET on FLAIR sequences.

The pathologic correlate of this sign is glioneural elements loosely packed at the margin of the tumour 1.
