The talonavicular joint is an important joint of the hindfoot and forms the clinical subtalar joint with the talocalcaneal joint.
Gross anatomy
The talonavicular joint primarily consists of the articulation between the head of the talus and the concavity produced by the posterior aspect of the navicular. This arciulationarticulation is facilitated by the talonavicular ligament, a broad, thin band that covered by the extensor tendons, and the plantar calcaneonavicular (spring) ligament.
