Undulating fascia sign

Last revised by Rohit Sharma on 14 Jun 2024

The undulating fascia sign is a radiological sign described in MRI of the lower limbs, typically, but not exclusively, in sporadic inclusion body myositis.

In certain diseased states, these muscles are severely atrophied and infiltrated by fat, resulting in the fascia between them taking an abnormal saggy, wavy or undulating morphology 1-4.
