Presentation
Epilepsy.
Patient Data
Well-defined focal periventricular nodular lesion abutting the right frontal horn of the lateral ventricle, isointense to the cortical grey matter on all sequences. No other associated anomalies.
Case Discussion
MRI features most consistent with focal unilateral periventricular nodular heterotopia.
Subependymal grey matter heterotopia, also called periventricular heterotopia, is considered the most common form of grey matter heterotopia, characterized by nodules of grey matter located immediately beneath the ependyma of the lateral ventricles. It divided according to morphology into unilateral focal, bilateral focal and bilateral diffuse.
