Presentation
The patient tripped and fell. She presents with right elbow pain and limitation of motion.
Patient Data
There is an avulsion fracture of the tip of the right coronoid process, best visualized on the oblique view. There are displaced anterior and posterior fat pads suggestive of an associated effusion.
Case Discussion
An example of an avulsion fracture of the tip of the coronoid process. There is no associated elbow dislocation in this instance. This represents a type I fracture based on the Regan and Morrey classification system. The fracture is barely discernable on the lateral view and poorly appreciated on the frontal view.
