Presentation
Left upper quadrant pain.
Patient Data
Well-defined thin-walled intrasplenic cystic lesion with homogeneous fluid content and foci of peripheral calcification. No rim or internal enhancement is seen.
Otherwise, normal CT exam.
The ultrasound images revealed a well-defined rounded intrasplenic cystic mass with internal echoes (due to debris) and regular thin wall
Case Discussion
Ultrasound and CT features most consistent with splenic epidermoid cyst.
On imaging, the differential diagnoses include mainly the secondary cysts:
splenic pseudo cysts: post-traumatic, post-infarction and intrasplenic pancreatic pseudocyst
infection: hydatid cyst
