Airspace opacification in the right mid zone inferior to the horizontal fissure corresponds to right lower lobe consolidation in the superior segment on the lateral projection. The left lung is clear. No pleural fluid or pneumothorax. Cardiomediastinal contours are normal. No free subdiaphragmatic gas. The bones are unremarkable.
Case Discussion
Nice example of using the lateral to localize the pneumonia. The horizontal inferior margin of the opacification on the frontal projection may confuse people with regard to the horizontal fissure, which is clear seen more superiorly.
