Presentation

Patient with pain in the right iliac fossa 6 hours ago, increases when walking accompanied by nausea.

Patient Data

Age: 30 years
Gender: Male
ultrasound

Ultrasound showed an aperistaltic appendix, non-compressible with a diameter of 7mm, with inflammatory changes in the pericaecal and periappendiceal fat.

There is a distended appendix, without appendicolith. Inflammatory changes of periappendiceal fat are also present. 

Case Discussion

The patient had a 6-hour history of pain in the right iliac fossa, which increased when walking accompanied by nausea.
On physical examination, there was pain on deep palpation, Mcburney's sign positive and negative Blomberg, laboratory tests showed leukocytosis. Imaging examinations are performed, evidenced in the ultrasound tubular structure with thickened wall and echogenic fat that suggests inflammatory changes, the tomography reveals a distended appendix and periappendiceal fat with changes. previously described findings suggestive of acute appendicitis.

The patient underwent surgery without any complications with a finding of an appendix in suppurative phase.
