Small subgaleal skin-covered soft tissue mass at the mid-occipital region with intracranial extension through a calvarial defect. Persistent embryonic falcine vein with small fibrous stalk connecting the cephalocele.
Case Discussion
MRI features most consistent with atretic occipital cephalocele.
Atretic cephaloceles are thought to represent involuted true cephalocele (meningocele or encephalocele) connected to the dura mater via a fibrous stalk.
