Case contributed by Mohammad Taghi Niknejad
Diagnosis certain

Presentation

Urinary incontinence and overactive bladder.

Patient Data

Age: 40 years
Gender: Female

Retrograde cystography

Fluoroscopy

By injecting the contrast media through a suprapubic catheter, post-operative changes due to augmentation cystoplasty (ileocystoplasty) are seen, including a small non-expanded cavity in the anterior aspect of the urinary bladder.

No sign of contrast media leakage and vesicoureteric reflux are seen.

Post-voiding residue is more than normal limits.

Case Discussion

Augmentation cystoplasty, most commonly ileocystoplasty, is a surgical procedure utilized in adults to treat low-capacity, compliant, or refractory overactive bladder and can create a safe, functional reservoir that enables urinary continence and prevents upper tract deterioration.

This case demonstrates inadequate ileocystoplasty in a 40-year-old female who was referred for urinary incontinence and overactive bladder because of a small, deformed, non-expanded intestinal segment of the augmented bladder.
