Bone infarct in femur and avascular necrosis of left hip

Pain in left thigh and left hip.

Patient Data

Age: 30 years
Gender: Male

A geographic area of altered signal intensity is seen in marrow of distal femur with 'double line sign' on T2W images and peripheral marrow edema on STIR images

A serpiginous area of altered signal intensity seen in head of left femur, showing 'fat signal', and 'double line' sign.

Case Discussion

Findings suggest medullary bone infarct in femur, and Mitchell Class A avascular necrosis of left hip.
