Presentation
History of chest trauma 1 year ago with left sided hemothorax which had been treated. Now the patient complains of dyspnea.
Patient Data
Large defect is seen along the anterolateral aspect of the left diaphragmatic cupola which measures about 1.9 cm along its maximum transverse diameter and 1.8 cm along its anteroposterior diameter with subsequent herniation of peritoneal fat into the left hemithorax and anterior mediastinum.
Case Discussion
Diaphragmatic rupture often results from blunt abdominal trauma, which is usually associated with motor-vehicle accidents. The primary differential is a diaphragmatic hernia.
