Non-specific knee pain, patella dislocation previously.

Patient Data

Age: 45 years
Gender: Female

Multiple bilateral double-layered patellae which consist of multiple well-corticated smooth fragments in two rows.

Patellofemoral joints are narrowed with osteophytosis.

Case Discussion

Plain CT scan shows a double-layered patellae with secondary degenerative changes. Double-layered patella (DLP) is a rare form of bipartite patella, it is a congenital anomaly which presents as a multiple fragmented patella with smooth, well-corticated borders. Double-layered patella is pathognomonic for multiple epiphyseal dysplasia.
