Degenerative changes are seen in proximal and distal inter-phalangeal joints, including joint space narrowing, subchondral irregularity and central erosions, and marginal osteophytes.
Case Discussion
The findings in this case suggest erosive osteoarthritis, also referred to as primary osteoarthritis, with a distal distribution of central articular erosions, and sparing the wrist and metacarpophalangeal joints. The patient's age and sex are also characteristic for this condition.
