Presentation
Vague pain in the left leg following trauma from sport injury
Patient Data
Well-marginated unilocular lucencies with sharp sclerotic borders are seen in the distal metadiaphyseal cortex of the tibia and fibula. No evidence of periosteal reaction, matrix mineralization of overlying soft tissue changes.
Features are those of Fibrous cortical defects
Case Discussion
Fibrous cortical defects (FCDs) are benign bony lesions which are usually small in size, occur in skeletally immature children between age 2-15 years, and are usually asymptomatic. They are typically seen in the distal femur, proximal and distal tibia. The location of this lesion, its size, metadiaphyseal location, and the bones involved all support FCDs.
