Left orbital trauma after being intentionally hit by a rock
Patient Data
Collapse of the left eyeball, with the sign of the "flat tire". There is poor differentiation of the anterior and posterior chamber with blood density material inside. The lens is absent. Edema of preseptal tissues with areas of surgical emphysema.
The bone tissue window shows a fracture of the left lamina papyracea and of the floor of the orbit with protrusion of the extraconal fat towards the maxillary antrum; the latter with blood inside.
Case Discussion
During surgery massive loss of vitreous and uveal tissue was found. Repair of the globe rupture was performed. Conservative treatment of fractures was performed.
After three months, the left eye was found to be in phthisis bulbi and secondary blindness.
