Ileal adenocarcinoma causing proximal bowel obstruction

Abdominal distension, pain abdomen, vomitting and inability to pass flatus and feces.

Patient Data

Age: 65 years
Gender: Male

Small bowel appears dilated. There is evidence of an annular constricting lesion in the distal ileum with enhancement. This is suggestive of a ileal stricuturing mass lesion.

Case Discussion

Post operative histopathological diagnosis was of ileal adenocarcinoma.

Small bowel adenocarcinoma are relatively rare as compared to the colnic adenocarcinoma. It predominantly involves the duodenum, the jejunum and lastly the ileum.
