Left ventricular aneurysm

Pre-op CXR.

Patient Data

Age: 50 years
Gender: Male
X-ray

Focal lateral bulge of the left heart border with elevation and lateral displacement of the cardiac apex. Increased cardiothoracic ratio.

Single lead implantable cardioverter-defibrillator (ICD) and sternal wires noted.

Case Discussion

Appearance is typical of a LV aneurysm. The patient had a long and complex cardiac history including a previous anterolateral acute myocardial infarct 18 months prior. Echo confirmed a large true aneurysm with a large hypokinetic segment.
