Loose right total hip replacement with heterotopic ossification of left total hip replacement

There are bilateral total hip arthroplasties in situ. New bone formation is seen around, cemented on the right acetabulum, uncemented on the left.
Right side: The femoral head is asymmetrical in the acetabular cup indicating loss of polyethylene liner laterally and superiorly. There is lucency at the bone cement interface of 2 cm onalong the lateral aspectmargin of the right femoral prosthesis. The irregularityLucency is seen at the cement prosthesis interface along the distal femoral component. Heterotopic ossification is seen arising mainly from the lateral acetabulum acetabulum with >1 cm between opposing surfaces of the right iliac crest suggests previous trauma or surgerybone.
There is extensive new bone formation around the joint space of the left hip, extendingLeft side: Heterotopic bobne extends from the acetabulum across to the greater trochanter. Cerclage wires are present around, giving the proximal left femur.Degenerative changes are noted in the lower lumbar spineappearance of ankylosis.
Updates to Case Attributes
In this case the patient had a painful right hip, the hip prosthesis was considered loose and was revised. He was likely to limited hip movement on the left secondary to the heterotopic ossification.
