Lymphatic malformation - chest

Presentation

New right axillary mass. Recent cough and cold. Soft and fluctuant on examination. No discoloration. No evidence of infection.

Patient Data

Age: 6 years
Gender: Female
ultrasound

Multiloculated right axillary collection. No abnormal flow. No hemorrhage. Appearances are most in keeping with a lymphatic malformation.

The MRI confirms the US findings. There is a multiloculated fluid collection in the right axilla with a predominance of macrocysts. No solid elements. No concerning features.

Case Discussion

The child was treated conservatively and followed up in the clinic, where injection sclerotherapy was arranged.

Blood-stained lymphatic fluid was aspirated at injection sclerotherapy, and Doxycycline was instilled. After three treatments, the lesion had significantly reduced in size. She remains in follow-up.
