Patient Data

Age: 60 years
Gender: Male

The study reveals chronic lacunar infarcts and areas of ischemic demyelination in bilateral periventricular, deep, and subcortical white matter.

Disproportionate mineralization of the bilateral posterolateral putamen is seen with partial atrophy. Diffuse cerebellar atrophy is also seen with a prominence of cerebellar folia.

Bilateral convexity sulci and lateral ventricles are mildly prominent and likely age-related.

Case Discussion

The above findings of disproportionate mineralization of the bilateral posterolateral putamen with partial atrophy and diffuse cerebellar atrophy are consistent with multiple system atrophy parkinsonian type (MSA-P).
