Presentation
Rule out chronic sinusitis
Patient Data
Polyp in the right maxillary sinus and little mucosal swelling of the maxillary and sphenoid sinuses. No air-fluid levels, no hyperostosis, no bony arrosions.
Incidental bilateral Onodi air cells and pneumatized dorsum sellae.
Case Discussion
Onodi cells are often incidentally found and are typically asymptomatic. Because of their close proximity to the optic nerves and internal carotid arteries it is important to be aware of them. In case of sinus disease it can lead to early involvement of these aforementioned structures.
A pneumatized dorsum sellae is an anatomical variant which could potentially mimic pituitary pathology.
