A large fluid-filled cleft covered by gray matter in the left cerebral hemisphere that freely communicates with the left lateral ventricle.
No significant hydrocephalus is noted.
Case Discussion
Schizencephaly is a rare congenital brain malformation where deep fluid-filled clefts are present in the cerebral hemispheres. When it communicates with the ventricles it is called open lip and if not, closed lip.
