Presentation

Trauma to the right knee. Incidental finding on the MRI exam.

Patient Data

Age: 20 years
Gender: Male

Pedunculated bony mass arising from the medial aspect of the distal femoral metaphysis and projecting away from the epiphysis. The medullary cavity, as well as the cortex of the bony lesion, are in continuity with those of the parent bone.

The cartilage cap is well-demonstrated on PD fat sequences and measures less than 3 mm in thickness in this case. Soft tissue edema surrounding the distal component of the bony lesion with a mass effect on the adjacent vastus medialis muscle.

No pathological fracture or adjacent soft tissue mass is seen.

both menisci, cruciate and collateral ligaments are intact.
