Presentation

Lump in the right thigh for months. Slight discomfort on examination. Cystic-feeling mobile lump of 3 cm at the medial aspect of the lower thigh. Nature of lump?

Patient Data

Age: 12 years
Gender: Male
ultrasound

Focal bony prominence with a 4 mm thick hypoechoic cartilaginous covering in the distal femur. No increased vascularity.

No soft tissue mass.

x-ray

Small osteochondroma on the medial aspect of the femoral metaphysis.

Case Discussion

Ultrasound and radiographic appearances of an osteochondroma in a skeletally immature patient.

Classic metaphyseal location with the lesion pointing away from the joint.
