The patellophyseal index is defined as the length from the anterior physeal line of the femur to the superior margin of the patellar articular surface divided by the length of the patellar articular surface.

The patellophyseal index is a radiographic measurement of patellar position on a lateral radiograph or sagittal MRI and is used in the assessment of patella alta and patella baja.
