Anteriorposterior (AP) view of the knee shows linear ossification/calcification in the proximal medial collateral ligament (MCL). Lateral view demonstrate joint effusion in the supra-patella recess. Pellegrini-Stieda disease thought to lesion is thought to be the result of stripping stripping of the femoral periosteum near the origin of the MCL which leads to heterotopic ossification and dystrophic calcification.
