Presentation
The child presents with a painless, and hard, right parietal scalp mass.
Patient Data
There is an ovoid, heterogeneous, superficial, and non-compressible, painless mass overlying the right parietal bone. There is no color flow on Doppler tracing. The underlying cranium is intact and normal. Intralesional calcifications are evident.
Case Discussion
Features consistent with a right parietal, pilomatricroma with a typical heterogeneous sonographic appearance, and well-identified intralesional calcifications. The lesion is hard and non-compressible. The usual differential diagnosis of a dermoid or an epidermoid cyst was considered unlikely. The lesion appeared extraosseous additionally with a normal underlying cranium.
